Strictly speaking I shouldn’t be doing this. The rules state that one should only use a single lens for the year, and I chose the Fuji 35mm f/1.4, yet here I am dallying with the 14mm f/2.8.

In my defence, I like to think I’ve been photographing for long enough now that maybe I don’t need to stick quite so rigidly to what is essentially a learning exercise. I’m still primarily shooting with the the 35, but I think I’ll start running a side project simultaneously where I include one 14mm shot in each OCOLOY post. A wide a week, if you will.

Anyway, enough excuse-making. Today I went to Pakefield beach to try out my shiny new lens. As I mentioned yesterday, the field of view is taking some getting used to, and I’m still surprised at how close I need to get to things. When those things are on the ground, that means a lot of kneeling and stooping.
