Saturday 2nd December 2017

Since Emily was born, Zoe and I naturally haven’t had the opportunity to get out much – newborns require almost constant attention! Still, she’s 8 weeks old now, and Zoe’s more confident about breast-feeding in public, so we’ve been able to have short trips into Lowestoft and, today, Gorleston, without too much drama.

The forecast yesterday threatened rain but fortunately it was one of those glorious shiny winter days, and not even too cold. Still a bit much for Em though – she spent most of the time outdoors asleep.

All of these apart from the ‘rusty yellow barrier‘ and ‘shadows on white building‘ one were taken with the Fuji 23mm f/2. I’m gradually becoming convinced I don’t really like this lens, unfortunately. It’s small and light, and fast to focus, but image quality, in paticular the blurry left edge and the way it transitions to out of focus, just bother me constantly. I’ve seen enough samples from the 23mm f/1.4 to know it doesn’t have these issues, and I’ve decided to save up and get that, and possibly sell the 23mm – I have the 27mm f/2.8 if I need a small lens, and the weather resistance has never really been a factor to me.
