Backlog: August 2019
Friday 23rd of December 2022
Well, I said last month that I had more pictures this month, and… well, that’s true, but the variety isn’t as great as I initially thought. It was no exaggeration to say that about 70% of the pictures are of my daughter, but hey, that’s just the way it goes when you have a 2-year-old: she changes so much even week to week, and she’s just so adorable . Still, I’ve posted plenty of pictures of h…

Backlock: July 2019
Monday 19th of December 2022
It’s beginning to look like the whole of summer of 2019 was when I mostly gave up trying very hard to produce artistically relevant photos. I took plenty of pictures – 286 if Capture One’s count is accurate – but probably 85% of them are just of Emily or other family members, and are only really interesting to me and other family members. Still, lack of artistically relevant pictures is only real…

Backlog: April 2019
Tuesday 6th of December 2022
Apart from a couple of outings specifically done for photography reasons, this month’s output was pretty limited, consisting mostly of pictures of Emily and Zoe. As far as I can remember, this will be a common theme for much of 2019, but hopefully there’ll be enough material to keep this series going. Emily standing on a chair, in a sunbeam On the plus side, the fewer pictures I have to select fro…

Hopton coast, evening sky
Saturday 5th of November 2022
After a period of laziness, I’ve resumed my lunchtime walks along the sea front, just in time for the weather to finally start turning cold! Luckily I recently got a new jacket, which has actually held off the cold rather too well, if I’m honest – by the time I get back I’m often sweating. Bodes well for when it gets really cold, though, and it’s an excellent jacket though, so I’m not complaining…

Exploring the 7Artisans 25mm f/1.8
Saturday 15th of February 2020
About 2 months ago, I got the 7Artisans 25mm f/1.8 lens as a Christmas present from my wife. I’d been eyeing it up for a while, wondering if a fully manual lens would really be my thing. Considering I already own the two Fuji 23mm lenses (so more or less the same focal length), I wasn’t sure I really needed it. This is a remarkably inexpensive lens though: £79 from Amazon UK, so even if I didn’t r…

Backlog: August 2018
Saturday 7th of September 2019
After the heatwave of the previous month, it was nice to enjoy more normal (for England) summer temperatures. One of the best things about our new house is how close it is to the sea; there’s a nice thirty-minute little circuit I can do daily on my lunch break to help clear my mind and get some exercise. drain in the sea wall My parents were also getting well settled into their new bungalow a shor…

Backlog: July 2018
Friday 17th of May 2019
By July we’d finally moved in to our new house and unpacked most of our things. Em playing with my headphones We’d also started to explore the town and surrounding area. Hopton church farm buildings off the footpath from Hopton to Gorleston neighbour’s car overrun with brambles Em was getting a lot more mobile now – she could crawl quite easily, and was experimenting more and more with standing up…
