Hopton coast, evening sky
Saturday 5th of November 2022
After a period of laziness, I’ve resumed my lunchtime walks along the sea front, just in time for the weather to finally start turning cold! Luckily I recently got a new jacket, which has actually held off the cold rather too well, if I’m honest – by the time I get back I’m often sweating. Bodes well for when it gets really cold, though, and it’s an excellent jacket though, so I’m not complaining…

Carlton Marshes, somewhat desiccated
Sunday 26th of March 2017
I last went to Carlton Marshes just under two months ago , and it was rather wet and muddy then, despite the sun. Now, in late March after a week or so of sun and no rain, it’s much drier. Still cold, but not unpleasantly so – in fact, by the end of the walk I was wishing I hadn’t brought my coat. Carlton Marshes in winter
Sunday 5th of February 2017
As mentioned in the previous two posts, the atmosphere has been conspiring against me. New camera, no good light for taking pictures. Well! Today that all changed, as finally the sun came out at the same time I had the opportunity to actually go out and make the most of it! Hurrah! Carlton Marshes is a nature reserve I’ve been to before , but until now have never managed to really make any pict…

Beach boat details
Monday 18th of July 2016
Yesterday the weather was hot and shiny so I went for a walk to Pakefield beach. OCOLOY Week 45
Sunday 7th of February 2016
Quite a ‘close to home’ week, this one, in that I didn’t really venture any further afield than Lowestoft, at least not anywhere photographically interesting. There industrial estate near Beccles where we went for breakfast, at a café called Posh Pigs, might have borne some fruit, if the weather was nicer and we’d had more free time to spend there, so it might be worth a return trip (even if just …

OCOLOY Week 10
Friday 27th of March 2015
A little late posting this week, as I’ve been very busy at work, on top of needing to get my car fixed. Anyway, week ten! One fifth of the way through, and I feel like I’m really starting to get comfortable with the 50mm-e focal length now. I’m finding it much easier to pre-visualise framing, so I’m able to move to a position, bring the camera up to my eye and have things more or less look how I e…

Oulton Broad
Saturday 21st of March 2015
I recently went to nearby Oulton Broad , a large lake and marshland west of Lowestoft. Luckily the weather was shiny, and although a little chilly, by the time I’d done a fair amount of walking I was plenty warm. Hopefully when the weather warms up a bit more Zoe and I will go out here for a picnic, and have a walk around the local town. Oulton Broad looking east from Bridge Road The view east …

Fog in the Morning
Monday 29th of September 2014
It’s not often we get fog like this in the morning, so I felt compelled to take advantage of it with a nice walk to the beach before work. lost cat poster bike warning sign bollard on cycle path water tower office Office building in front of our local water tower trees in two layers of fog dewy spider webs beach grass It’s quite an odd experience walking on a foggy beach. beach plant dog walker on…
