Some X-T2 + XF23/2 black and whites
Saturday 1st of April 2017
Another trip to Norwich today to get some Euros for our Malta trip on Monday. I hadn’t planned on making these pictures monochrome, but rendering one of them later as black and white made me think to give all the ‘good’ ones the same treatment. cycle path over foot bridge construction work on a building on King Street bush growing up a brick wall graffiti on a brick wall old man looking at market …

More 23/2, this time in Norwich
Saturday 25th of March 2017
The shiny weather continues unabated, and even felt quite warm by around 11. Since Zoe and I were going to Norwich anyway I obviously took the new lens. One thing I’ve noticed looking over these pictures is that I get the impression I’m using the 23 like a 35, and not taking advantage of the wider field of view. Too many flat compositions! Fuji 23mm f/2 first impressions & rambling
Friday 24th of March 2017
When I got my first Fuji interchangeable lens camera, the X-E1, almost four years ago, I got it with the Fuji 35m f/1.4 lens, which I didn’t initially get along with. Prior to that I’d been using a Fuji X100 for almost two years, and it was quite uncomfortable at first going from a 23mm lens to a 35mm. The latter felt constricting, and I never seemed to have enough vertical space, meaning I felt p…

Carlton Marshes in winter
Sunday 5th of February 2017
As mentioned in the previous two posts, the atmosphere has been conspiring against me. New camera, no good light for taking pictures. Well! Today that all changed, as finally the sun came out at the same time I had the opportunity to actually go out and make the most of it! Hurrah! Carlton Marshes is a nature reserve I’ve been to before , but until now have never managed to really make any pict…

Oulton Broad in winter
Sunday 29th of January 2017
It happened again: nice shiny morning, then overcast by the time I get to my destination. It even rained this time, just to rub it in. So, here’s some kinda dull pictures taken around Oulton Broad today. Lenses 60, 35/1.4 and 14, as usual. No 18 – 55 this time. life ring holder blue hose reel and rusty metal plate seagulls on a jetty dinghy park life ring around a pole stack of flotation barrels WOB…

Southwold in winter
Saturday 28th of January 2017
I thought we might get lucky with the weather today, and manage to get some nice shiny winter pictures in the Suffolk seaside town of Southwold, but although it was sunny on the drive there, as we arrived the clouds moved in and flattened all the light. Still, it’s kind of an appropriate aesthetic, the grey overcast weather reflecting the unbusy nature of a seaside town in winter. Took the 18 – 55 a…

30-day photo challenge, day 1
Wednesday 4th of January 2017
I guess ‘challenge’ isn’t the right word really, more of an inspiration: this is a list of photo idea prompts for the next 30 days, which I saw on Rinike’s blog . Self-portrait What you wore Clouds Something green After dark Obsession Changes to come Routine Someone you love Childhood memory Something blue Sunset Cannot live without Eyes Silhouette A good habit Technology Your shoes Something you…

Kessingland, winter 2
Monday 2nd of January 2017
After my previous outing to Kessingland, whereupon I entirely failed to reach the beach, I decided another visit was in order. I ended up going twice, but the first was a bit of a let-down as the weather was dull and grey. Fortunately the second time was more successful, with lovely low winter sun for the majority of the outing. Fuji X-E1, XF 60/2.4, XF 35/1.4 and XF 14/2.8 beach path over pebbl…

Lowestoft town centre, December
Friday 30th of December 2016
It feels a lot less than two years since a previous “winter sun” post, my goodness how time flies. These are all from a couple of days ago when I visited town to arrange a new pair of glasses, since I lost one of the lenses in my old pair and besides, I suspected my eyesight had got worse (confirmed). New pair won’t arrive for up to two weeks though, as I wanted the lenses that help when working…

Christmas in the North-West
Thursday 29th of December 2016
As has been traditional, Zoe and I went to stay at her parents’ house this Christmas. As is also traditional, I managed to be ill for most of it, having caught a cold off Zoe and suffered rather worse from it than she did. Still, I did manage to get out a couple of times to take some pictures in nice light. West Kirby pictures taken with Zoe’s Fuji X-M1 and XC 16 – 50 because I forgot to bring my o…

Kessingland, winter 1
Sunday 18th of December 2016
Although we live fairly close to Kessingland, and have driven past it numerous times on the way to places like Dunwich , I’d never actually gone into the town. Today I decided to rectify that, although I didn’t stay for as long as I’d have liked, so a return visit will be in order. Fuji X-E1, Fuji 14/2.8, 35/1.4 and 60/2.4. London Road salmon-coloured houses railings around a Christmas tree gated…

Ely: town
Thursday 17th of November 2016
Yesterday Zoe went to a teaching conference in Ely, Cambridgeshire and I decided to go with her and take photos around town while she was getting her learn on. I’ve split this into two parts: town and river . Gorleston, town
Monday 17th of October 2016
The second set of pictures from yesterday’s wander around more-than-just-the-seafront of Gorleston. I still haven’t ventured fully into the town centre (I think? maybe I have and this really is all there is to it and if I keep going I’ll be in Great Yarmouth ); perhaps next weekend! Shall try taking my X100 then, perhaps with X-E1 and 14 and 60mm lenses as backup. I hope the future Fuji 50mm f/…

Gorleston, see the sea
Sunday 16th of October 2016
Doesn’t feel like a week since my last wander around Gorleston seafront, and the weather was not so shiny this time, hence the black and white. This is kind of the first of two vaguely related posts; I took them on the same day, but more than that they both sort of illustrate aspects of Gorleston in a non-glamorous way. Used the 18 – 55 again. Still don’t like it. palm tree blowing in the wind broke…
